Taking it easy...
Aug. 14th, 2015 10:31 pmThe Routine Stuff™ was pretty light today, but I got it off my plate and back to where it came from despite it being Friday, which has become something of a routine day off for me (typically, I appear to have routinely traded one weekend day in exchange).
When Galina and I went to pick up Alla at the fitness center, a photocopied sign on the door informed members that the pool was again not in operation. I get the distinct feeling that the attitude of the center's management toward the pool is pretty cavalier, and the pool will limp along—oscillating between being in and out of service until something serious happens. (To compare, management's attitudes toward membership cancellation reflect a very high degree of attention to detail. If memory serves, they want 30-days notice, and a photocopied sign at the membership counter informs the reader that no membership cancellations are accepted on Fridays, presumably because nobody with sufficient authority to authorize said cancellations is on the premises on that day.)
The "staff" seems to have been selected more for for willingness to work cheaply than for any actual knowledge of the way the business works and how best customers might make use of the establishment's equipment, etc. But don't get me started. Once my 90-day membership is done, I'm done with the place.
I only have to make sure there is no hidden language anywhere in my contract that authorizes them to renew me unless, say, I approach the proper employee on hands and knees after having genuflected three times while standing on one foot in the parking lot and reciting Casey at the Bat in the middle of a snowstorm, or something.
But don't get me started.
