Not an ordinary Friday...
Nov. 13th, 2015 11:35 pmMy work plan for the day was disrupted during my follow up at the eye doctor, which revealed another tear in my eye and resulted in another laser session. Afterward, I rushed home, ate a quick salad, and put my head down to get some work done.
The day's "bag" is slightly more than 3,000 words done of the Latest Big Job™ and another jolt of Routine Stuff™ returned for my best client. No change in status for either of the items for the outstanding long delivery assignments.
It wasn't until I was starting to trail off with my translations that I turned my browser to pages outside my narrow specialty and found out about the Paris attacks, whereupon my spirits sank. My thoughts turned to a couple of lines from the French anthem, La Marseilleise—Ils viennent jusque dans nos bras, égorger nos fils, nos compagnes!—and I wondered about the long-term prospects for not just France, but for Europe and the West in general. It would appear that some factions have declared war, but it is equally apparent that it is not politic in certain to point that fact out.
In any event, it's time to get ready for some rack drill. Tomorrow, I start a troglodyte weekend, wherein I hope to make significant progress with outstanding assignments.
Cheers...
