One long day...
Feb. 14th, 2016 08:25 pmIt's been one of those days filled with a seemingly endless procession of new terms having to do with hydroelectric power stations, where pretty much all of my tricks for finding out what stuff means have yielded doubtful (and in some cases, unusable) results very slowly.
I generally am able to translate at least 500 words per hour; today's effort yielded less than half that rate.
But then, I ran into a strange web page (why had it not appeared before?) containing a bilingual English/Russian glossary that was Right Up My Alley™.
It belongs to someone who appears to work in Chinese (go figure).
And while some of the entries fall short of being... pukka—they generally seem very much, at least, in the ballpark (in comparison to, say, my simply out-and-out guessing what stuff means).
Attempting to "clip" the page to Evernote threw an error ("too big to clip, effendi"), so I threw it at HTTrack (or the other way around, I'm too tired to figure out which).
They say tomorrow is a federal holiday around these parts.
We'll see. Either way it falls, it's going to be a big, big day.
Cheers...
