Finding solid ground...
Mar. 20th, 2016 12:05 pmBetween leaving my phone in the car and falling asleep while watching some television last night, I missed a couple of calls from Galina, which got her all sorts of worried. When I finally did wake up, around 10 pm or so, I debated whether to call Galina, but decided not to risk waking her, as she finds it difficult, sometimes, to fall asleep.
At my end, I couldn't fall asleep until it was almost time for me to get up, so I've been walking around like a zombie since morning, because while I did get up at my customary 4:40 am time, I went back to sleep after breakfast, a workout, and some warm-up translation, at around 8:30, but only for about half an hour, because something was driving me to stay awake. I don't know what it was, but it was nothing negative—at least, I don't think so.
Thus, as the day progresses, I am feeling more and more human.
After taking care of two items for my best client, I went outside to see if the heat of the sun would overcome the cold air. It did, barely.
Eggplants continue to grow on the magic eggplant vine in the back yard. On the other tentacle, the seed potatoes I planted appear to be breaking through the ground with some kind of white spots on the plants that I cannot find on any web page devoted to potato problems (disclaimer: based on a hurried search), and despite having planted greens in a nice row (in one case) and in a strict hexagonal pattern (in another, aided by a piece of chicken wire), I cannot tell where the plants I want (by definition "not weeds") are coming up and where the plants I do not want (by definition "weeds") are sprouting. I shall also have to erect some kind of structure to which the cucumbers can cling, else have the vines sprawl all over the lawn and exposed to hazards such as twirling mower blades. The tomatoes are okay, but I think I'm going to have to fertilize everything out there, before long.
Sigh. There are people who are good at gardening. I do not appear to be one of them. That said, I will keep trying.
Enough slacking! Back to the face of the translation mine!
Cheers...
