Feeling 'shiny'...
Oct. 1st, 2017 05:51 pmAnd that's a good thing. While I perceive a reduced personal energy level from what it was yesterday, I'm feeling pretty good.
All four (and a half) assignments have been completed and sent, along with the September invoice.
What was the "half" of an assignment, you might wonder? Well, the Russian side recently transmitted ten documents to their U.S. counterparts, nine of which had already been translated by the Russian side's in-house translation staff. Originally, my assignment had been to translate that tenth file, but then my client noticed that the translations provided by the Russian side are downright awkward to read, so I was asked to edit a page of one of them, i.e., change the language into, um, English.
Along the way, I almost certainly identified some translation errors, for even though I had no access to the original Russian text, I had translated that tenth file, and some things just did not jive. It was an interesting exercise.
All in all, I feel accomplished.
In other news, Galina and Alla have had their heads together for most of the day, trying to figure out the optimum configuration for packing Alla's luggage for the flight home. My sister-in-law has accumulated quite a number of goodies that she'd like to take back with her.
They way they've been packing stuff, it's a science, I tell you.
Cheers...
