Okay, so it's nearly 10 pm and all I've really done (well, not all, but I digress...) is come within one page of finishing the third document written of here previously, and doing about half the please-please-please 1300-word document due Thursday.
I am taking a short break from the madness while I - and my computer - recover from Yet Another Word Fault (YAWF... hey, that's almost a word!)
I am going to be pretty upset if I've lost a lot of work, which I probably have, since saves take nearly forever with the document I'm working on.
Otherwise:
Business cards printed... check.
Curriculum vitae revised and printed... check.
Presentation printed... check.
Linux box ready... check.
Laptop ready... nope (I'm using it).
Car rented... check.
Food for road... check.
Clothes packed... nope.
Oh, glory be... Word hasn't a clue, but TRADOS remembers everything!
Back to work.
Cheers...

Date: 2003-11-04 11:28 pm (UTC)All you need is a tight deadline, complicated formatting or other stressful event, and Word will immediately produce a fault requiring it to be closed, thus successfully distracting you and permitting you to take a short break. Very soon, we intend to introduce soft, soothing music to accompany you as you cheerfully close down all other programs running prior to watching our wonderful start-up logo yet again.
On particularly stressful days, WTU even increases its frequency automatically, only to cease activity entirely when you are no longer under pressure.
COMING SOON: the Word Cursing Reaction feature (WCR). Instant error messages guaranteed every time the user utters a derogatory comment! Seamlessly integrated within WTU, this latest development is at the cutting edge of our user-interactive innovations. Updates of 'curse and insult recognition' lists will be automatically and regularly uploaded to your PC at no extra cost!
We aim to please :)
