"On call" again...
Jul. 17th, 2005 08:22 amFortunately, there was no need for my services as the "on call" interpreter today, as work concluded early at the office and most folks took the bus into town for a trip to the market. I spent much of the time reading a book Galina gave me to read, and did another session on the treadmill (500+ calories burned).
Burning 400-500 calories a day should add up over the course of a week (I mean, 3000 calories has to be at least a day's worth of food, conservatively speaking), but for some reason, my weight stubbornly refuses to go down, despite the fact that I'm not increasing my food intake.
One explanation might be that the "calories burned" figure is not accurate (something I've noted previously). Another possibility is that I'm eating more than I think, despite my concentrating on eating moderate quantities of vegetables and salads and leaving the rice and potatoes alone.
Cheers...

Date: 2005-07-18 11:26 am (UTC)There's a 'plateau' factor in losing weight, too, a period during which one simply has to be patient, have faith, NOT go off the diet pattern, and remember that if we could lose weight rapidly, we'd sag and wrinkle like a rhinocerus or a Sharpei dog. Patience is a virtue for good reason, you know.

Date: 2005-07-18 04:36 pm (UTC)I flux every few months, where I gain about ten pounds, and then shed it off during the course of a few months. I think I can thank that active childhood I had, but as time goes on, I'm finding it harder to 'slim up' quick. That and I'm turning into a lazy bum... but you motivate me, so keep up with the great example :)
I love you!
