Yesterday's completed job was despeckled and sent this morning, whereupon I started the other job, and have made good progress (good enough to where I'm done for the day).

I'm well into The Songlines, by Bruce Chatwin (an International Best Seller—who knew?). It's not providing the kind of information I'm seeking about songlines (although bits are spread out, here and there, reminiscent of the way Joshua Foer dropped hints about the P-A-O mnemonic method in his book Moonwalking with Einstein), but it's interesting enough on its own as a sort of travelogue.

Happenstance brought the existence of the France and Colonies Philatelic Society to my attention not long ago. I eventually visited the Society's web site, where I found a membership application (these folks are mostly old school—they accept payment by PayPal, but the application must still be sent in via snailmail).

It's been almost 10 days since I sent in my application, and in the meantime, during an idle moment, I revisited the Society's web site, which now states (and I'm pretty sure I would've noticed it the first time around) that the fellow to whom I sent the application now lives at a different address. Ah, well... either the letter will be forwarded, or it'll be returned to me (or... it'll disappear into some dead letter office).

I will endeavor to keep my thinking focused in a positive direction.

In all things.
