Aside from agreeing to do a translation for Tuesday morning, I don't think I did one blessed thing having to do with work today. Galina even deposited the payment check that arrived yesterday.

We did go garage-saling, and spent probably $25 on odds and ends. The two biggest purchases were a yard bench for $10 and a bread-maker for $8.

I put the bread maker through its paces later in the afternoon, while we were waiting for Natalie to come share dinner with us. For a while, I was concerned that the unit might not work, because it was not following the timetable for the kind of bread (whole wheat, large loaf) that I had set. In the end, however, the heating unit kicked in and a little while later, we had our first loaf.

It was a "plain vanilla" loaf, so to speak, that pretty much followed the recipe on the back of the flour bag (as opposed to the instruction booklet, which called for a lot of butter/margarine and white flour, even in the whole wheat recipes!). The result was a little dense, which makes me think that I didn't put in enough yeast, but it does taste good!

Dinner was an impromptu store-bought chicken with home-made rice and a choose-up caesar salad. Afterward, we watched Children of Men, which had some nice moments, but generally depressed me. Right now, the ladies are watching Babel, which I will pass on for now, and instead go to bed.

I will have to get back in the saddle tomorrow, to finish the job due this past Friday (extended officially to Monday morning, first thing) and start on the item promised for Tuesday. And then there are all those hazard reports... yes, indeed-y, the plate and the larder are - for the moment - quite full.

Cheers...
