Yesterday, I managed to check 14,000 words of the BHHR due Monday and then translated about 1200 of the 2500 words in the job that needed translating. In between, I spoke with Galina a few times, with the calls becoming more frequent as she got closer to New York.

At one point, when I asked where she was, she told me she was in New Jersey, and that was passing a sign telling her how far it was to Hershey. Seeing as Hershey is in Pennsylvania, I experienced a bad moment as I concluded that she had somehow gotten turned around on I-78 and was headed west, away from New York, until I calmed down and realized that "Hey, she's not in Jersey at all. She actually has no idea where she is, outside of being on I-78 somewhere!" (Now that's a mental monologue guaranteed to calm one down, wouldn't you agree?)

In the end, it all worked out. At around 9 pm, I drove down to the KFC/Taco Bell near the Greenvale LIRR station to guide her in over the last few miles to the house.

I currently have about 500 words left to translate of the BHHR. And, despite my best intentions, I accepted another 5,000 words for Monday morning. I have no excuse (other than the usual one having to do with paying bills), though I will note, in my defense, that I declined three - if memory serves - other jobs before I couldn't take it any more and snapped. I've since declined one more job.

Everything might work out yet (and actually, it will anyway), as Natalie will be doing the AirTrain/LIRR thing to get here from the airport and won't get here until 5:30 pm today at the earliest. This leaves me with at least 6 hours to finish the current job and put a sizeable dent in what was described to me by the client as "easy text." We'll see.

Easy or not, it won't get done unless I turn to.

Cheers...
