A key issue...

So around 8:30 pm last night, we depart in two cars (my rental job and Lee's) to return my car. Galina and I are in my car (she minimizes her time in Lee's car, for reasons that escape me); Lee is following in hers. The car return is uneventful.
To cut to the chase, once we get home, we cannot find the keys to the van. We search everywhere. I call the rent-a-car place, on the off chance that Galina left the keys in the car. After a first phone call that puts me on hold for nearly 10 minutes, I call again and speak to a young lady whose voice exudes efficiency. She volunteers to look in the car.
No joy.
We search everywhere again. Galina finally decides the keys somehow got into a bag of trash that she collected out of Lee's car, and which she chucked at the rental place.
Galina and I drive back to the rental place. It's almost deserted, though those places are really never without one or two people hanging around. No joy on the trash bag.
On a whim, Galina decides to look at the car one more time. She mobilizes the night staff (is one guy a "staff"?) to help her find the car. The car is found.
As are the keys.
There is a lesson to be learned in all of this. Maybe even more than one.
I got up later than I wanted, but it's still better than getting up later than now. My next posting should occur from home, in Colorado. Ta...
Cheers...
