I approach the upcoming July 14th festivities (slated to commence in just over 30 minutes) with equanimity, and in the knowledge that I have been tapped to accompany the French team to the Gagarin Museum tomorrow and interpret the spiel.

It's been a week short of two years since it last fell to me to do this gig, and while I feel up to it, I'm told that this time, the folks here representing the Customer will be in attendance as well.

No pressure.

Apropos of which, I was explicitly told today that what one might casually refer to as a "client" in American English is referred to using the word заказчик (customer) in Russian and not as the клиент, i.e., client, as that latter word is often used pejoratively to describe the patron of a different kind of, um, service.

Cheers...

Everything is correct, but "client" in Russian is "заказЧик", not "заказЩик". One can use the latter form but it's obsolete and sounds like you want to mock the person you refer to.
P.S. Thanks for a very interesting blog.
