Telecommunications... not!

alexpgpThe phones don't seem to work, except for local calls, and dialup... well, when it actually does more than "connect" (i.e., when it deigns to send and receive data as well), the link is glacially slow, sometimes reaching breathtaking speeds of up to 2 kB/s.
I finally wised up and am trying to download DownThemAll! for Firefox, because I'm tired of the two-step where downloads terminate with no warning with no subsequent hint that there might be something awry with the downloaded file.
I waited about 5 minutes for this post screen to appear. Now let's see if it actually works. Faites vos jeux, mesdames and messieurs, for I am about to click on the Post button.
