Yesterday turned out to be a long day, and fortunately, our Russian colleagues have a policy by which their offices must be abandoned by 7 pm (or else I don't know what happens... hopefully it doesn't involve mice and pumpkins... but I digress...). Dinner was at a place down the street called Tsepi, which tries real hard to give the impression of being a rock-and-roll biker bar, and does a middling job of it.

Some old attitudes do not change. I ordered a dark beer and was given a lager, which I refused, whereupon the waitress insisted that the order was correct. One of the other guys in the group came to the rescue by taking the glass, but I started to wonder where I was, a feeling that was exacerbated when it turned out most of the stuff on the menu wasn't available.

Anyway, I slept so well last night that - yes, there I go complaining, again - I woke up late, at around 8:45 am. Fortunately, our group had agreed to meet at the hotel's business center at 11 am to review progress on translation editing (a process that is of interest to me, naturally, although as yet I am not involved). I walked around the area a little, took a few photos, and could find no place to eat except for one place whose prices were a little excessive, in my humble opinion.

The McDonald's I spied out of the corner of my eye is closed for an unexplained reason. After wandering around, I was about ready for anything they had to serve, but as it turned out I have not yet broken my fast today. On the other hand, I did stop by the post office and was helped by some very friendly people both there and in a book/music/video store (where the respective ratios of product appeared to be 5%, 40%, and 55%).

It's time to saddle up and get ready for the trip out to the work site, which I have happily found on Google Earth (not far away is an SS-24 mockup located at 48.437963° N, 34.993920°E). The place also turns out to be not far from where the Deep Purple was held Sunday night, too.

Small world, not!

Cheers...
