As planned, I dusted off the translation due this morning and sent it off.

The rest of the day was spent around the house, in "archaeological dig" mode, throwing a bunches of unearthed stuff out of my downstairs "office" and cleaning ancient layers out of the "new" laundry room to give the guy who was supposed to come do some minor sheet rock work in there some breathing space. Naturally, said guy never showed.

One of the benefits of today's "dig" has been a major replenishment of my pile of stuff to shred. Lately, I've been using shredded documents as fire starter in the wood-burning stove, not out of any security concerns, but because the stuff does an excellent job of getting a nice, toasty fire going. As a result, by yesterday afternoon, I had pretty much run out of stuff to shred. Now, I've got about a ream or more of old translations sitting in my "shred bag."

Rumors are flying of me working a Baikonur campaign at the end of February. I think I've been in training, weather-wise, here in Pagosa the past few weeks. Brrr. In other news, I leave for Moscow next Saturday.

It's week 16 of the LJ Idol competition, which - considering there have been two "off" weeks along the way - means folks have been pumping out entries over the past four and a half months.

Things have been heating up during January, which TPTB have declared to be The Month of Doom!. There are no more "tribes," just a single group of contestants. Last week, the the bottom 8 vote-getters were dropped after a poll limited to fellow contestants. As far as I can tell, this week's poll is open to everyone on LJ, and when the results are tallied, the bottom 10 vote-getters will be eliminated. Your support might just keep me in the competition, and would be appreciated.

Cheers...

Am quite envious of your pile of shredding material and the shredder - am hunting everywhere for materials for my Compost Pile No. 2! It would come in very useful here right now... please don't send it though. ;)

And I have voted, too.

Thanks for the vote.

I've heard that "shreddings" make good feedstock for compost heaps, but I wonder if that includes compost heaps intended for vegetable gardening? There's no telling how various inks and toner might affect one's rutabagas, no?

Cheers...

I remember reading somewhere that the worst problem with "shreddings" was lead content in the inks. Thinking of it, I think I saw some bio-degradable "green" printer ink sold somewhere... hmmm.
