Here and there...

I took the opportunity to put together two BESTÅ shelves (which would have been three, except that one of the side panels on the third unit looks like someone took a blowtorch to it). It was good therapy for the nearly full-blown case of Oh-God-will-I-ever-get-any-work-again I've been developing the past seven weeks, aggravated by having to shell out a half grand to change my ticket home from the upcoming Moscow gig.
The change was precipitated by a desire to not commit a visa violation. You see, I was very nearly certain (the big brother of "I had assumed") that my visa to Russia expired in July, so I did my usual thing and arranged for a return home on Monday, June 8th, after visiting my sister-in-law and mother-in-law over the weekend.
It turns out my mind played a dirty trick on me, because the "07" in the first position of the expiration date was the day, not the month, which turns out to be - surprise! - June. One lousy day!
Normally, the client insists I buy a fully modifiable ticket, but I guess the economy has changed things, and as a result I have a new rule to go by in the future when it comes to buying nonrefundable, pay-through-the-nose-to-change airline tickets.
Galina and I managed to clear a bunch of stuff out of my office, which had begun to feel claustrophobic yesterday. A lot of that involved moving stuff off of and out of furniture bound for other places and into my new bookshelves, which are 80% full, according to my eyeballs. (This, without having emptied hardly any boxes yet... yikes!)
Having them all lined up like that, though, makes it easier to figure out which ones to keep and which to get rid of, sort of, because there will be a giant third class of tomes not important enough to keep, but too good to junk.
Decisions, decisions.
* * * I've never much liked season finales, at least not those that try to keep some sort of "buzz" going about the show, like the famous cliffhanger involving the question of "Who shot J.R.?" that kept interest up during one of the later seasons of Dallas, if memory serves (though in truth, I don't think I ever watched a single complete episode of that show).
The NCIS finale was interesting, though it left a lot more questions unanswered than the finale for The Mentalist. Neither was as satisfying as the finale of Life a few weeks ago, though.
Cheers...
