"When you're conducting an overall career -- be it in acting or golf -- it's a selfish process. You must believe totally in what you are doing even if it is garbage."
-- Jack Lemmon (1925-2001)

An interesting notion from a remarkable man. I cannot say I was any kind of rabid fan of Lemmon's but after a while, his performances became something you could count on as enjoyable and, sometimes, mind-bending (his Pulver in Mister Roberts was great).

Now, both halves of "The Odd Couple" are gone... they will be missed.

Cheers...

Jack wanted more than anything to just once make the cut at the Crosby (ATT Pro-Am), and he never did. Last year he wasn't there, and I suspected he was sick. Nothing less than serious illness would have kept him away. He was a gem.

without being too overly philosophical, i find it strangely reassuring that you have two very dissimilar posts within the same day.

imho, mr. roberts and glengarry glen ross are classic examples of jack lemmon's characters, the funny and the tragic 'everyman.'

also the kid is cute...ahhhh.
