I completed a translation of about half the item due at the end of the day tomorrow, and was fortunate that much of the language in the text seemed to have been lifted from the client's ISO 9001 quality manual, because there was a time when I was part of an effort to certify a company to that standard, so of necessity I had to acquire some fluency in the "language of quality."

Nonconformance. Continuous improvement. Corrective action. Internal audit... That kind of stuff.

Everything eventually comes back around...

The kids had to go to Durango this morning, so Drew called to ask if it was okay to bring over the grandkids.

What, we gonna say no? Deadline or not, the kids and grandkids are always welcome.

They ran us (or at least me) ragged, especially Mathew. I gave up trying to play computer-written DVDs on our ancient and low-cost COBY player, and hooked up webster, my HP laptop, to an analog input on our new television. It worked great.

I'm not sure how much attention was paid to the Russian cartoons that I put on, but I think something may have gotten through (I think Huntur went out the door mimicking the "кто там?" - "who's there?" - line from the "Three from Prostakvashino" cartoon).

Like most good cartoons, the ones I showed today had an appeal that was broader than just kids.
Mother: "Think about it, what benefit is there from this cat?"
Father: "Why must the cat necessarily provide a benefit? Of what benefit, for example, is that picture on the wall?"
Mother: "I'll have you know that picture is of great benefit! It covers a hole in the wallpaper!"
(I know Galina got a good several laughs from the cartoon, at any rate.)

Time to relax and unwind. And to listen to some tapes. And maybe to watch the light show outside.

Cheers...

P.S. The cartoon I refer to - or at least the first part of it - can be found here on YouTube (in Russian, naturally).

No, or at least I don't think so.

What I know about Russian cartoons can be inscribed with little difficulty on a grain of rice. :^)

Cheers...

If so, I am happy to recommend to you and you family that new Russian cartoon series. It is very popular now in Russia. Took the best of old traditions and new technologies. Interesting for both kids and parents. Смешарики is the title in Russian.
