If English were to be legally declared to be the "official" language of the United States, would that then require the creation of a mechanism - along the lines, say, of the French Academy - to determine what is and is not English?
I'm just wondering.

Then, what about teen-speak? or punk-speak? or techie-speak? Or Geek-speak?
