The only thing required to work yesterday's plan was time and paying attention to the road. By the time I reached San Antonio, it was dark, and I mostly paid attention to staying behind this one particular 18-wheeler for the last leg to Houston.

It was a long trip for Shiloh and the kittens, too.

Poor dog!

I pulled into Natalie's driveway at around 9:30 pm, whereupon Natalie drove us to Seabrook, where I rejoined Galina and we had a late dinner of leftover (but positively yummy) pizza.

The truck has been emptied and we're back in Seabrook. I've relocated a chunk of my office from the upstairs to the dining room, in preparation for recarpeting, which is supposed to be imminent. I plan on emptying the room I had been using as an office over the next few days.

The prospect of a Baikonur campaign in January has pretty much faded from view. Galina says she's not exactly heartbroken over the prospect. To be frank, while it would have represented an excellent payday, I'm confident things are turning out for the best.

In the rush and hubbub of life, this year our Christmas trappings were not brought out for display. So, instead, we shall endeavor to display Christmas in our hearts, and keep it throughout the year. Permit me to start by wishing all of you the blessings of peace and serenity that I have always associated with this season.

Cheers...

That is a fantastic photo. Your animals seem to travel well!

They do, at least after the first couple of hours or so! (I think they become resigned to the idea, eventually.)

My cats don't travel like that, and they're sure wouldn't snuggle up with a dog.

We've always been fortunate in that regard. The kittens have given Shiloh an opportunity to play mom.

Cheers...

"They" say that animals don't talk. But those of us who do have pets have learned how to read their body language to a degree. I see Shiloh has that look that emo_snal and I have always considered to be the embarrassed look. It's sort of a "I'm putting up with this treatment" face. The siamese has decided that the only solution to the problem is to curl up and take a nap, hopefully for at least an hour. The black and white kitten is entertaining itself by bothering the dog-- but only when no one is looking. Either that or it is itself bothered by the dog and is looking for an opportunity for retaliation. That will, of course, happen only when your back is turned and then the cat will give you the "Who me?" face or curl up and pretend to have been asleep for an hour. (Not unlike the siamese.)

You've pretty much nailed it, although Shiloh's look also has a healthy dose of "What's to be done with these unruly, undisciplined brats!" Having the kittens around has given her an opportunity to spread her motherly wings (she's been known to sniff the kittens and lick them, especially their bottoms), which she apparently does quite well.

Cheers...

Yes, we've been fortunate that way. And Merry Christmas to you, too.
