While opening one of the three flat containers of natto that came in the package we bought yesterday, I was earnestly hoping that, in eating it, I would not commit a faux pas of the order of Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev's famous attempt to drink the contents of his finger bowl in the course of a state dinner back during the Johnson administration.

In any event, I put the natto on top of some cooked basmati brown rice, emptied the contents of the two small servings of sauce and mustard that were included in the container onto the natto, and then microwaved and ate the rice and soybean mixture for breakfast.

It was pretty tasty, actually. Previously, I'd read about how natto is supposed to be smelly, slimy, and icky, but found it to be nothing of the sort.

We drove over to Natalie's, where we helped a little with some of the details of moving in (hooking up the fridge, and so on) and were treated to some local delicacies (corn sausage dogs!).

Eventually, we headed back to Seabrook, and I entertained the idea of stopping to see a first-run film (either Sherlock Holmes or Avatar), but we ended up instead at a Chinese-Vietnamese restaurant where Galina had a sizeable wonton soup and I ordered a no less sizeable seafood phở. Afterward, I was not so enthusiastic about going to see a movie.

It's been a nice weekend. I think I'll leave the invoicing until tomorrow.

Cheers...
