Punxsutawney Phil apparently made his Facebook followers and Twitter minions a bunch of very happy campers by not seeing his shadow today, which supersition—good old supersition (what would we do without it?)—tells us is a harbinger of an early spring.

The poor shluffs up in Denver have been having to deal with sub-zero (Fahrenheit) temperatures ranging down to what I sometimes call the "math-free" temperature (minus 40, where the Celsius value equals the Fahrenheit value). We down here in the vicinity of the Four Corners have been fairly lucky this season, with snow falling mostly at elevations above our own rather lofty 7800 feet. It's still not sunbathing weather, though. ;^)

A modicum of work crossed my desk today, and conversations were held. I now barely notice the fatigue in my legs as I stand at my computer (although said fatigue does make itself readily apparent whenever I sit down!).

Time to go take it easy. The day's been longer than I think, I'll wager.

Cheers...

Any reason why you are standing in front of the computer these days? Just to beat the sedentary habits?

Yes. Apparently there's quite a bit of research out there suggesting that sitting in front of a computer for 8-10 hours a day, 7 days a week, is not a good way to maintain health. (A kind of conclusion that would make my mother cry out in anguish and say: "And they pay people to figure this out?")

I've gotten to the point where I can now stand for some time without complaint, with the concomitant benefit of not exactly encouraging me to spend extra time at the keyboard.

Cheers...

I think I am in agreement with your mother there... sitting on one's behind for most of one's living life is obviously not a good way to be. Even I, in my old age (ahem!) can already feel it - my hip joints protest if I sit still for over 2 hours at a time. Various sports help quite a lot.

I also alternate with a kneeling chair, it's surprisingly comfortable and very good for maintaining proper posture. They transfer the weight onto the hips and knees. Am thinking of buying a gym ball as well, they are quite good too, apparently.
