Speculations:

1. a hurricane is forecast and you are shuttering up the windows.
2. You expect a blizzard and it is imperative that you lay in an ample supply of firewood.
3. You expect an attack by a wooden legged ogre and you will saw him to death.

Work has been sluggish lately ("sluggish" being an entirely euphemistic adjective), and so, in between wondering how bills are going to get paid, I've been engaged in activities that will—one may hope—make me more effective at what I do.

The allusion to the saw comes from Steven Covey's book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People."

Of course, being prepared for the zombie pine apocalypse is important, too...
