How're those new channels working out?

alexpgpJust about a week ago, I activated the local cable service's offering of their single French channel (TV5 for the US) and a handful of Russian channels. Just for a month, just to try it out.
My comprehension of Russian seems not to have flagged in the interval since I last was in an environment where Russian is spoken (which would be about 18 months ago, if memory serves). Or perhaps that's just my imagination. In the car, I find myself breaking out in Russian to speak with Galina, which is a noticeable change for me. Finding suitable programs to watch is not all that difficult, although at times it seems all the channels are offering real-life crime drama cum reality programming.
My comprehension of French varies all over the map, from excellent during news programs, to iffy during documentaries, to near-zero during comedies and soaps. The situation with French is head and shoulders above what I can expect when I tune in any of the many Spanish-language programs available, which is turning out to be not all that often, because my level of comprehension in Spanish is truly dreadful. (That, of course, suggests I should watch more Spanish-language programs.)
It's time to hit the rack. Merry Christmas, everyone!

As you appear to be asking, please feel free to "friend" me. Curiosity will compel me to devote some time in the near future to read your journal; that said, I might reciprocate by "friending" you back—or not—as the spirit moves me.

Date: 2011-12-26 12:03 am (UTC)I don't put any commercial plugs in my interests, else you would have noticed a lot of the same things. 'Likeness' is not something I base friendship on; for me, it's more about intellect and the different things another person can introduce me to.
So there is a little about me. I invited you to be my friend because I was genuinely curious about the window to your world and the things that matter to you. We have no mutual friends because I traveled around a bit, entering in my interests. Kinda just shooting in the dark hoping to find good blogs to link to and connect with, is all.
