One of these days, I'd like to learn how to use (and survive the use of) a straight razor.
Thanks for the pointer at 'Core Temp'. I installed it and it shows temperatures of about half maximum. It might still be worth blowing out the guts of the netbook with canned air.
What I really and particularly hope is not the cause is physical degradation of capacitors on the motherboard, which was what afflicted the last of my work desktops and caused it to reboot at seemingly random intervals.
