The VAIO is back...
Sep. 18th, 2001 01:56 pmMy Sony VAIO arrived while I was in Houston. According to the paperwork accompanying the machine, not only did Sony replace the cooling unit, but they also replaced the CPU, a 550MHz AMD-K6-2. Some of the terse verbiage on the paperwork indicated a problem with loading/saving data, which probably accounts for the new CPU.
The fan hums like a dream, and the exhaust temperature of the air is a steady 86.5 deg F, though that's likely to rise once I load an application and start using it for real.
Now I just need to find the time to back up the files on the eSlate so I can convert it back to a Linux laptop.
Cheers...
