For the first time in a while, I ate Friday breakfast by myself (albeit in the company of Shiloh and Thumper, who sat obediently nearby, waiting for something to fall off my plate).

I tried to take something upstairs every time I had a need to go upstairs, and generally succeeded. (I lost my fitbit a while ago, else it would probably report pretty impressive stair-climbing over the past 10 days or so.)

I translated about 3,400 words of the top priority item, which leaves just under 5,000 words in the assignment, which I hope to finish by mid-day tomorrow. I did a chunk of it using Dragon NaturallySpeaking, which encouraged me (because if I don't overload my machine's memory with miscellaneous applications, it actually does a pretty good job of recognizing what I'm saying) and scared me ("pretty good" means the transcription requires review, which means a particularly careful reading once I'm done with my draft translation).

Time to get to sleep. There's something I need to do tomorrow morning before I settle down to do another chunk of work.

Cheers...

I accidentally put my fitbit through the wash three times. After the first two times, it still worked fine, but the third time was the charm. It worked except it would no longer charge the battery. Fitbit sent me a new one free, even though I'd made it clear that the failure was my problem.

Using the principle of "if you don't ask, you don't get," I dropped an email to fitbit support asking if, perchance, the company sold "refurbished" units (based on how they dealt with your problem and with a similar problem that occurred with Galina's unit, I suspected the answer was no, but still...).

And I'll be dipped if they didn't offer to send me a complimentary replacement!

Juxtaposed with my Comcast travails, I'm just stunned!

Nothing like good customer service! I'll bet the next model will be waterproof. Much cheaper than sending all those replacements ;p
