Recovering from carelessness...
Feb. 2nd, 2013 10:00 pmI managed to hit my numbers for the day, but in doing so, I uncovered something about the document that is quite unsettling. It turns out that there are a number of rather large text boxes in the job, some of them the size of an entire page. When asked to count words, Word conveniently neglects to look at what may be in text boxes, so I am looking at what may amount to another couple of thousand words of work. There's nothing to be done about it, at this stage, but it sure would be nice to stop having to remind myself to take a bit more care when accepting new work.
I must've been asleep at the switch, because the new version of iTunes that got installed looks different and is taking an inordinately long time to "update" my library. I just hope Apple has not adopted any of, say, Adobe's design techniques.
Cheers...

Date: 2013-02-03 07:22 am (UTC)I go to a lot of work when I write documents to insert tables and force them to my will to achieve the look I need instead. At least tables don't hide words, and they're a lot easier to format when the target language text is a different size than the source.

Date: 2013-02-04 03:03 am (UTC)I've started to format my translation and am coming up against some truly diabolical formatting pathology. It's gotten to the point where the "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe..." lines spoken Roy Batty in Blade Runner has turned into an earworm, of sorts.
Hope your day is going better!
Cheers...
