Deck memorization, second try...
Mar. 4th, 2013 03:48 pmAfter two days of rest, I tried to memorize another deck, and after struggling to reconstruct the order for about half an hour, elected to grade my incomplete effort (33/52) and to see where I was going astray.
I already knew, before ending my solution session, that I had assembled a number of correct "pairs" of cards that I could not, with any certainty, associate with specific places in my journey (aka, "loci in my memory palace"). Had those place associations been strong enough to enable me to correctly situate them, however, my score would still not have been perfect, as several other "pairs"—such as Sergeant Bilko (10C) doing a two-armed V-for-victory gesture (2S), and Roy Rogers (4D) radiating a halo (AH)—were too weak for me to recall at all.
Ah, well... per aspera ad victoriam!
Cheers...
