I am generally among the last to catch wind of "viral" kinds of things on the Internet, and had the news of Schoep's death not managed to cross my browser, I might have missed the original story, mentioned (among other places) here.

I had no idea who Schoep was (also being among the last to hear about internet news), but read the story, admired the photo, and wish that all humans would take as much care of their pets as John Unger does.
