Night out...
Oct. 9th, 2013 10:43 pmGalina and I don't get out much. This evening was an exception. Some acquaintances invited Galina and me over for a "book club" discussion that ended up being a two-hour free-for-all exchange of opinion, where I managed to hold my peace.
Now, don't get the wrong idea—all in all, it was a pleasantly spent evening, even in my self-enforced role of observer. A number of opinions were expressed on subjects that, in my view, are not amenable to black/white, yes/no answers. Nor do I feel any duty—as I did so many years ago—to point out why certain positions held by others may be ill-considered. On the other hand, there was much to mull over.
In other news, my immediate goals were sidetracked somewhat by the arrival of work. I did about half of the new job today, but my heart wasn't really in it, because I was really tired most of the day, something attributable I think to another bout of uhtceare ("lying awake before dawn and worrying"). Napping in mid-afternoon helped a bit, but not much.
Once I take care of the root cause, the symptoms ought to go away and the rest ought to take care of itself. (Sorry to sound so cryptic, but there it is.)
