...and a wakeup!
Nov. 6th, 2000 07:22 pmIt's pretty much over, the shouting and posturing. Tomorrow will be devoted to hours and hours of blathering over why things turned out the way they did.
In the end, either Gore of Bush will win the election, and nothing much will really change, except maybe the tone of media reporting, if Bush wins.
It all boils down to one question: Do you want a smaller government?
I cast my first vote for the Libertarian party in 1992. For me that vote was an act of conscience. In previous years, I'd been tempted to vote for the Libertarian candidate, but chickened out at the last minute, hoping that my voice would help sway the general election.
And so in previous years, I'd vote for the guy I hated less.
In retrospect, I'm thinking that's a terrible way to exercise the franchise. Don't you agree?
Do you want a smaller government?
If you do, will voting for someone who wants a bigger government (or someone else who wants an even bigger one) support your goal?
Vote Libertarian!
Cheers...
P.S. And on that note, I do hereby retire this soapbox...for a while.
