Leonid and I are doing the air-to-ground (have been, too, all week long) and heard the two MCCs discuss tomorrow's crew wakeup. The long and short is that the ground will leave the crew alone until about 7 am local (Central) time, giving the folks on ISS a rare treat: some sleep-in time.

That means there's no use having someone come in at midnight tonight and have them sit around, saying nothing all night long. Instead, I've been asked to (again) come in early and pick up the action for the rest of the day. On the one hand, it's nice to get another couple of chargeable hours under the belt, but I would not have been completely against splitting my shift with the folks who normally work from midnight to 8:30 am.

Ah, well...

In other news, and old news to boot, it turns out that The X Files has been picked up by Fox for a ninth season, while The Lone Gunmen will not have a second season. Also, David Duchovny will apparently not be a "regular" on the show, though he may make one or two "cameo" appearances (I suppose that means Mulder's kisser will appear on screen about as often as Krycek's).

Talking about the show, one wonders what will happen to Scully's baby. From one point of view, if it survives, one would expect Scully to take some kind of leave; if it doesn't, one'd still expect Scully to take time off. Of course, the producers might take care of this by creating a couple or three episodes at the start of the season that focus entirely on Robert Patrick's character, explaining Scully's absence appropriately. (Hmmm. Actually that'd make sense...give the audience more info to absorb about Agent Doggett and his somewhat mysterious background.)

Oops, there I go again, thinking that anything in the X Files universe has to make sense. It's probably just as likely that Scully leaves her baby in a day-care center run by the Cigarette-Smoking Man.

It's too bad about TLG. After a rocky start, the next few episodes actually looked like there might be something to the series, after all. I just hope these geeks don't get written out of the main series (though I think that's probably a silly worry).

Somehow, I got word that my ISP now supports PHP, which led me to try to load a page I created a long time ago on my web site, wherein I embed my LJ. After a little fiddling, I now have a page on my site that...looks almost identical to this page you're looking at now.

This, of course, makes me wonder why I'd want to embed, exactly, until I realize that - with some work - I could embed it in a new and exciting way.

Not that I really have time for that.

I've called the house several times today to see if Galina's made it yet. No joy, yet.

I woke up at around 1 am this morning, for no apparent reason, and after a tour of the house, went back to sleep, or tried to. (Don't ask me why the tour, if someone had broken in, then my only hope of survival upon discovering them would be them taking a gander at my, um, youthful, er, trim masculine frame, after which they'd dissolve into gales of laughter that would not subside until after the cops arrived. But I digress...)

After fidgeting for what seemed about forever, I fell asleep and was then rudely awakened by my alarm. I successfully dragged my carcass into work here early today, and so here I am...counting down the minutes. Only a half hour or so left.

Cheers...
