Yesterday was, as expected, a pretty good day of rest and relaxation. Feht came over with Maria and William around noon, and then we set off for one of the several campgrounds near Williams Lake (21.0 miles away, as the crow flies, according to the GPS). It sure is a nice place for a picnic, even if there are a couple of hundred other people in the area.

Maria served us all kholodets, a kind of boiled beef in aspic and garlic, and we all partook of red caviar slathered on french bread (with plenty of butter). I then took over the duties of chef and grilled some kebabs on a portable grill. Afterward, Galina went for a walk and I snoozed. I felt so good the rest of the day, I skipped what had become a daily LJ post, ending what was just two months of steady entries.

Today seems destined to make up for yesterday, in terms of stress. Although I'm home now (I was in the store from 8 to about 10:30), I'm in the throes of trying to figure out how to pay all the bills, trying to figure out why a package was returned by the shipper (actually, I've done that already), trying to find papers that are in a poorly filed mass of other papers, trying to find translation work... the list goes on. I am reminded of Yoda's clipped advice to Luke Skywalker about the word "try" and am "trying" very hard to turn "try" into "do."

In theory, dealing with paper is easy. Take the top piece of paper off the pile in front of you and decide what to do with it (throwing it out is an acceptable solution). Do not take the next piece until you're through with the previous, and so on down through the pile. I don't know, but it's very hard for me to do that... I get sidetracked so easily.

In fact, this LJ post may be a form of sidetrack-ism... and thus, I must go back to work.

Cheers...
