Omigawd...

Today was not a fun day in Dodge City, as I was alone in the shop for most of the day. We've got a part-timer who comes in at 10 and departs at around 4, and she helps, but once she left today, things really started to pick up.

I am reacting differently to the stress, however... taking a more assertive role when the occasion calls for it. When the UPS guy opened the back door to start his pick-up process, I quietly announced to the folks in the store that I'd have to devote myself for a few minutes to finish processing next-day stuff, and they didn't seem to mind... at least nobody left.

Fortunately, Drew showed up a moment or two later, leaving me free to devote my attention to the UPS pickup.

I got called by one new and one old client today on my cell phone. I need to start carrying a spare battery, because the one on the phone will not take this kind of abuse. <grin>

I have a firm assignment to translate a newspaper article about someone from Volgograd (at one time known as Stalingrad) who recently visited the United States. This will be for a new client.

I also have definite interest from an old client in doing some work whose nature is still not clear.

With Galina in Houston and Drew having to take Shannon to Durango tomorrow for Yet Another Checkup, I'm not at all sure how I'm going to pull all of this off.

It's closing time, and I still have customers in the store. Later...
