It sure doesn't feel like a Friday.

I am well and truly tuckered out. Lots of customers, but no large sales. Most folks want a stamp or a postcard; some others will send a package. There must be something in the air, too, as a couple of customers got really mad about minor items. I'm not going to chronicle their rants. It's too depressing. I did keep my cool, though, but that's not unusual. No stranger has ever come even close to achieving the level of obnoxiousness I learned to face calmly while in the Marines. (Semper fi, mac!)

In between the usual shenanigans at the store, I got two calls from translation clients, for work that's due next week. I don't know how much of it I'll be able to do this weekend, as we (Drew and I, at to a lesser extent, Shannon) are going to have to spend some time whipping the house into some semblance of order in preparation for the arrival of Shannon's parents. On the other hand, getting work like this continues to erode my dependence on my former employer in Houston, so it is welcome. I hope that, with Shannon's parents here, Drew will be able to devote more time at the store, which will leave me free to attack the assignments.

That will be all the more important, as I spoke with Galina this morning, and she tells me that she threw her back out with all the work she's been doing, so she doubts she'll be able to return sooner than Tuesday.

The VAIO's fan continues to work erratically. I followed the link provided by [livejournal.com profile] velocity to CoolPad, which appears to be a passive device that elevates laptops off of horizontal surfaces, thereby allowing better air circulation for cooling. (If it doesn't work, I'll send it back, I guess.)

Aha! Six on the nose! Time to close the store...

Cheers...
