Are the eyes out of warrantee?
Dec. 4th, 2001 04:36 pmI went down to the county courthouse to finally surrender my Texas driver license and trade it in for a Colorado one. I'd gone down there several months ago, but they - along with every other state, it seems - now have this requirement to note down your Social Security number as part of your file.
In Texas, nothing short of your original Social Security card would do. I don't carry that critter, and I don't often know where the heck it is, but I didn't have it a few months ago - at least not on me - when I stopped by the courthouse with the intent of doing what I did today, and when I ran across it by accident a few days ago, I made a note to remember to go down to get my Colorado license (especially since my Texas one was set to expire shortly).
For the first time in my life, I've got a restriction on my driving ticket. I now require corrective lenses to drive a car.
Yech.
I hate glasses. I would rather walk around slightly out of focus than have the hardware hanging on the bridge of my nose and trying to tear my ears out slowly. OTOH, maybe the thing to do is to go get a good set of real bifocals that will let me look at up-close things up close, and far-off things from far off without requiring me to take them off. My experiment with a "seamless" set of bifocals a few months ago did not work out too well.
In other news, I got a 15-page assignment to go with my 27-pager, except that the shorter piece is due first (tomorrow, 3 pm), and the longer piece is about to get longer (I'm waiting for the e-mail with the additional material) which should push the deadline past noon Friday. (With me thinking today is Wednesday already, I'm all mixed up.)
Drew called a few minutes ago to tell me we need to renew the ink cartridge in the store's printer, as we need to send out invoices. I'm just wondering if we've noted the various payments that we've gotten over the past couple of days (or at least to the end of November).
Break's over. If I'm to get that 15-pager out tomorrow (heck, if I'm to make any sort of decent progress on the other assignment), I have to get cracking.
Cheers...
