I'm now quite sure how I got here, but I'm here.
I started the day with the ceremonial opening of the store, where I stayed until about 11:30. Then I went home to finish the translation. I got about 12 pages done by 3 pm, at which time I went back to the store to help with UPS. I came back home around 5:30 and reheated the last of the black-eyed pea soup for dinner. Since about 6:30, I've bulldozed my way through the remaining pages of the translation, and finally laid the last page aside about half an hour ago.
There is more to do in checking these documents than just your standard spell-check and read. The client wanted me to translate the figures, and I know there are a bunch of figures I left place-markers for... I'm almost afraid to go look. I've also got a number of questions that need to be resolved, and the answers to many of those questions are probably in the glossary materials the client sent along, except the materials are not really useful without basically reading them all into Word at one time and then doing a search on any term you're having trouble with.
In any event, tomorrow I have to resolve the "[?]" marks I've peppered into the text, make sure all the figure keys are okay, and then do the quality check. I'm just too tired right now to do anything that requires a lot of concentration.
I can't say I've done a heck of a lot else today... no, that's not true. In terms of some low-level to-dos, I managed to pay some bills, touch base with a translation client, and order another DSL router (the one for the store).
Softly, softly. More haste, less speed.
