Time flies!
Feb. 20th, 2002 09:40 amA ludicrous idea, if taken as an imperative sentence.
But it's coming down to the last three days of my assignment here in can't-make-up-its-mind Houston. It'll be cold one day, and then warm, and then sunny, and then the skies will turn steel grey from horizon to horizon. Although it's the heater part of the car's environmental systems that's seen the most use this trip, I've felt uncomfortably hot enough once or twice to turn on the air conditioner, too.
I stopped by the Sam's Club yesterday and finally was able to get a printer cartridge refill kit for about $20. I also wanted to get a few film refills for the store's fax machine ($27 at Sam's; $39 in Pagosa), but for some reason, they'd disappeared from the store. I hope to find the film in some other store before I leave.
No word from Lee yesterday. I'm wondering if she's getting ready to move, or whether she is off following a drumbeat of her own, and simply refusing to focus her mind on the immediate issues in her life. (Heck, I've unfocused my mind from time to time, too, but generally not when I have 3 days or so left to quit an apartment.) The last time she left an apartment, some stuff of ours got left in her digs, including a quite expensive vacuum cleaner that disappeared in short order.
I've had another 4,000-word job come in (or at least an offer to do the job). Doing it, however, would require me to stay in place for a couple of days past the end of my current assignment, and I really want to get home. On the other hand, it is a 4,000-word job. Too, as I am trying to convince Lee to come with me to Pagosa for a visit, and as that probably won't happen until after all her stuff has been moved, accepting the job would give me three good reasons for staying an extra few days. Hmmm.
[...]
I just got off the phone with Galina, and although she feels badly about my staying an extra couple of days, too (probably the result of missing me and overwork, and not necessarily in that order :^), she's agreeable to my staying.
Now to get back to the client and accept the work...
Cheers...
