But there is the occasional stroke of luck.

Client M, for whom I do work, is the client who pays me the least for my efforts. Client U pays a more "reasonable" (from my perspective) rate, which naturally is higher.

Today, client U called with work first.

That's the extent of the good news.

Sasha seems to have an internal alarm clock that says, "Wake Alex at 6 am!" As a result, I didn't get a whole lot of sleep last night, but even though I spent the entire day at the store today, I don't feel as tired now as I did yesterday at the same time, with almost 2000 words staring me in the face.

I am not going to do any translation tonight. I may, if the mood strikes, take a closer look at the assignment due Monday. It had apparently been started by another translator (and I suspect I know who), but for reasons that have not been revealed to me, I am to continue the work.

The level of reproduction detail undertaken by the first translator - cutting and pasting bits and pieces all over the place to make the translated document look as much as possible like the original - is quite impressive. If I say so myself, it is a step beyond what I usually do for clients. Fortunately, the section of the document with the most such formatting work appears to be the section the first translator has already done, though I see a few figures and such in the 30-page section I'm supposed to do.

I think I am largely going to just hang out tonight and do nothing... except sleep, of course.

Cheers...
