Just finished an interesting phone call with an old friend, which has changed my mind somewhat about things going on in my end of the translation/interpretation world. It would be premature, however, to venture any speculation regarding the theme of the conversation at this point in time. So, consider this a "note to self" for future development. :^)

(My, but that second-from-last sentence just reeks of something awful, doesn't it? "Venture any speculation," indeed. Blah, blah, blah. Maybe I should apply for a government job?)

Anyway, I finished off the translation I started yesterday, which had to do with cosmonaut training, and got it sent to the client with several hours to spare before deadline. The other work that was hinted at in yesterday's phone call never materialized. No biggie. There's other fish to fry around here.

Talking about my trip, I told Lee that I was coming down next week and she kidded me about leaving on Sunday the 15th, since the opening day of The Twin Towers is the 18th, and she's got her sights set on the first, midnight showing of the film. (I have to admit, I'd like to see what happens, since I felt kinda left in medias res at the end of the first film, but I also have to expect to be left in the same state at the end of this one, too, so...)

The trip will be a grand opportunity to catch up on some movies, actually. The trick will be to find the time for them. And the money.

Galina and I watched the second (?) episode of Taken on the SciFi Channel, and I've got to admit, I'm getting a little bored of people running through the woods looking for aliens, and so on. I'm not particularly fired up to see the rest of the shows, but if afforded the opportunity, I will do so.

That brings to mind an article I read on the Runet, regarding the recent declassification of UFO documents by the U.K. I didn't have the time to read the article, so I saved it, nor have I searched for any information in English (I imagine it would have been posted to Slashdot, anyway). Maybe I'll read it on the plane down to Houston.

Which reminds me: tomorrow, I have to contact the client regarding travel arrangements and then I have to plan the rest of the trip.

Cheers...
