Counting...
Dec. 17th, 2002 08:47 pmFour more UPS days...
Six more USPS days...
Six more shopping days...
...until Christmas.
Unless you happen to be Greek, Russian, or otherwise Orthodox, in which case your procrastination date is January 7. (The major problem with pursuing the Christmas spirit on that date is that, in this country, the seasonal decorations have been put away, the trees have been discarded, the cards have been chucked, and it's back to the bowb-your-buddy week standard as far as dealing with others is concerned.)
The traffic through the store was somewhat lighter today, but that might be explained by there being somewhere around 4-6 inches of snow on the ground at dawn. Coming down the driveway and down the hill to Meadows Drive was pretty easy, but coming home in the middle of the morning to cut some checks posed its own set of challenges. Fortunately, both our road and our driveway had been plowed by the time Galina and I got home, although we did so to the accompaniment of large, puffy flakes of snow falling from the sky.
At least the snow sport crowd is happy, I guess. On the other hand, I don't suppose I'll complain too much if the mountains have to hunker down under a couple of dozen feet of the white stuff... I hate like the dickens to have fire restrictions in place in the forest earlier than June.
Ming did his thing last night and woke me up at 1 am. For some reason, I tossed and turned for about four hours until I finally dozed off around 5 am. The alarm woke me at 6.
So, basically, right now... I have difficulty figuring out if I'm coming or going. I have a pile of things to do, most of which do not involve the store, but the focus of my life for the next couple of days (at least) must be the store.
Go figure.
Cheers...
