Cry 'Havoc'...
Dec. 23rd, 2002 10:27 pm...and let loose those last-minute customers!
I had expected, based on the numbers for Friday and Saturday, that the Christmas surge was over. Boy, was I wrong!
With the exception of a few minutes in the morning, the store was filled with wild-eyed people eager to ship packages all over the place. What made some of them even more wild-eyed was the sticker shock associated with shipping huge or heavy boxes via Next Day services.
The day pretty much came to a close before I had the sense to catch my breath.
* * * The next DVD in my Netflix queue is Spider-Man, which I watched this evening after dinner. The special effects were pretty good, and the story fairly well followed the "anti-hero" line made famous by Stan Lee and Marvel Comics.
I got the itch, so to speak, to see the film while browsing in a CompUSA down in Houston. While there, I also got the itch to upgrade some of my hardware, but limited myself to the purchase of a new 120-GB hard drive. Then, a couple of days ago, I ordered a DVD drive for one of the Dells.
The process is fairly straightforward: I entered the system's ID number on a form at the Dell site, and it shows all the goodies I can buy for the machine.
I even got free overnight shipping.
Too bad the hardware that arrived won't fit in the box. I feel a serious phone conversation coming on. I just hope it's not with one of those interns.
Cheers...
