S-l-o-w...
Mar. 16th, 2003 08:58 pmIt's been a pretty slow day. The weather was foggy, with intermittent snow and rain throughout the day, with no resulting accumulation on the ground (at least here) despite a prediction of 10-20 inches for our area, according to the weather dweebs.
It turned into a mostly move-data-around kinda day. I restarted the DVDx conversion yesterday, and a 1:48 minute movie took over 16 hours to process on the VAIO. Then it was another couple of hours to burn the MPEGs onto CD-Rs. The upshot of this all is: barring new and much faster hardware, this technique is only useful if I am really serious about backing up one of my DVDs.
Galina tuned into the Sci-Fi channel's production of Dune, which they were showing in front of their first showing of Children of Dune. Oddly enough, by the time the first series was through, I was about "Duned" out, and could not sit through the new broadcast.
The plan for tomorrow morning is to review the translation and then send it and two invoices out. I've also got a pile of payments to make (including payroll at the store).
Cheers...
