The ham breakfast went well, as usual, except that Jack M.'s recent experience being sick had just about everyone moaning and groaning about the infirmities of age. It struck me that I was the youngest person at the table, and I am no spring chicken.

I got a call that resulted in an assignment and a rush rate. Three thousand words for tomorrow noon. I finished it a little while ago and sent it off, then "wound down" by learning about TWiki tables. I eventually got to the same point as the poster of the FormsConfusion page on the TWiki.org site, who said:
I give up, I'm totally confused about forms. I've blindly copied some examples, changed them and made them work, but have no idea why.
I agree, it's a little frustrating, but I managed to figure out how to create a form that would be used to identify a client, contact person, assignment and due dates, and job status for all topics having to do with translation assignments. (Free form data has its very central place in my firmament, but there is something to be said for organization, too, from time to time.)

In any event, I just have to figure out how to use the feature, now that I seem to have stumbled through using it.

I went by the store around closing to transfer some boxes back from our garage to the storage area in the back, and to run by the City Market to pick up a prescription and get some salad fixin's. Galina and I took the long way home, stopping by the kids' place to see Huntur, with me fully intending to do a walk "around the block" with her.

Huntur had other plans.

It turns out that her best friend Savannah was out on the lake in a boat with her parents. The lake is located across the street from the kids' place. So, we walked through an empty lot over to the shore, where Huntur kept repeating "Saahh-Vaahhh," which is her version of "Savannah." Eventually, the folks in the boat waved to us and I could hear Savannah's mom doing the usual parent thing ("Oohh! Savannah! Look! There's Huntur over there on the shore! Why don't you wave to her!" etc.)

I encouraged Huntur to throw some rocks in the water, but all her attempts came up short. I tried skipping a rock, and was reminded of my bum shoulder, the hard way, upon casting the first stone.

Huntur categorically refused to go on my walk with me, so... I went without her. It was a nice walk. I read Tennyson's Ulysses aloud while I walked, thinking of the recent broadcast of Helen of Troy and how Odysseus (which in Latin is Ulysses) came across as a reasonably sympathetic figure (certainly in comparison with the miserable Agamemnon or the bloodthirsty Achilles). I'm sure anyone who observed me walking has classified me as a certifiable nut case. Too bad on them.

My, but it is late. The good news is that I have no translation work on my plate, currently. This means I'll probably take Sunday off (as in: no bloody work). Maybe I'll visit Feht, or chase paper... I don't know.

Cheers...
