High-speed... again!
May. 8th, 2003 07:01 pmI got called around 10:45 by a Houston client to do a job of some 2800 source words plus a separate figure, all by 4:30 pm local time. Upon first looking at the job, it looked kinda tight. After all, 2800 Russian words expand to something like 3100 English words or more, and by the time I got home from the store and sat down to the job (after sending off yesterday's assignment), I had about 4 hours left to do the job, maybe a little more.
While TRADOS was of minimal help in this assignment, it was nevertheless another one of those jobs that didn't require oodles of research and dictionary time, and it went back to the client with some time to spare.
* * * When I left for the store today, it was snowing. Not the kind of snow that guarantees troubled driving and a visit from the guy with the plow on the front of his vehicle, but snow nonetheless. I noted it was starting to stick down around where Meadows intersects with Highway 160, but by the time I got to the store, the flakes were already starting to thin out. After a couple more intermittent valiant attempts, the snow finally stopped for good.
* * * After all the work and worry of the week, I find myself with not much to do tonight. Except rest... I haven't done that in a while, so I plan to strike while the iron is hot!
Cheers...
