In the rush to get out the door on time this morning, I left my wallet at home, which normally would not be much of a problem, except that the JSC badging office won't issue a car pass without you showing them a driver license first. So, I parked the car in their lot for the day and walked to my assignment in the MCC.

I have a natural tendency, I suppose, to beat myself up for shortcomings, but then again, lots of people are like that. What's interesting, is that many such people - I among them - don't come from an environment where they were beat up on by others in their formative years (or at least it wasn't something that was shoved in their face all the time); instead, it's a kind of inner voice that nags at you.

In any event, there were times during the day when my lack of "active" Russian conversation over the past five months or so was evident. Then again, there were times during the day when my work was positively brilliant. With this as a start, I'm not going to worry all that much, as I tend to get better as the days go by (in fact, I'll really be in top shape by the time I go home <grin>).

The sim ended pretty much on time, and I got stuck with the debrief duty, which was not terribly onerous, as the debrief was not contentious or confrontational (they rarely are, come to think of it).

On the way home, I tried to go online via T-Mobile at a Starbucks, but was not successful. (Which is why they offer the 300 free minute startup period, I guess.) We'll try again tomorrow.

French has suddenly become A Valuable Language To Know™, more about which later.

Cheers...
