Still in Moscow...
Jun. 13th, 2003 11:59 amAn attempt to change my ticket to leave today was not successful, but I did get it changed to the flight that leaves tomorrow. Go figure, but it turns out I'm in town precisely during the time of Russian Independence Day, which was yesterday. It also turns out that a number of organizations have "transplanted" a day off (i.e., next Saturday) to today, thereby creating a four-day weekend. The hubbub that is Moscow on a weekday is somewhat muted right now.
I am with Alla at the TIMEONLINE at Okhotnyi Ryad. We've set her up with an email account on Rambler, and she's surfing on the machine next to mine as I just finished checking some business email and am spending a little time posting to my LJ.
I am not even going to try to catch up on the past couple of days, but I do want to leave a couple of reminders for me to follow up on:
Yesterday, I joined Alla and a friend of hers on a trip to someone's dacha. It was a blast, and a new experience.
The previous day, Alla and I went to visit the office of ABBYY. Interesting place. We also visited the computer market at Savelovskaya and finally managed to find a DVD with something that Huntur might find entertaining. (My search at Detskiy Mir the other day for something electronic was not successful, although there were a number of attractive toys on display. I also managed to pick up some useful items at their stationary department.)
I had also hoped to get in touch with the folks at Multitran, but their phone does not answer and there is no address listed on their Web site; it is likely they got a head start on the weekend and took off.
Time to get off and spend some minutes explaining things to Alla. I may not get a chance to connect tomorrow, in which case, I'll be sure to get back online from New York.
Cheers...
