Carvin' dem Excel files down to size...
Sep. 23rd, 2003 09:23 pmToday's translation was an - ugh! - Excel file, about 2000 target words. I used Déjà Vu X on it, and I must say that the interface is head and shoulders better than that of the 3.x version. Now, if I could figure out why the thing refuses to propagate translations (and there were many of them to propagate), I'll be in business the next time an Excel file comes down the pike.
I failed to mention an excursion yesterday to the "Pagosa Fun Place," a combination bowling alley and skating rink that opened up at the end of July. Last night was league night and - so help me - Drew was playing on the local USPS team. I got up to get some refreshment at about the time he bowled his first strike, and Providence took its revenge in the form of the nachos I was served. Ugh! The viscid yellow-orange cheese sauce was only semi-hot, tasteless, and served in little cups that were too small to accommodate an unbroken nacho chip.
When I returned to the action, Drew threw another strike. I'm not sure he broke 100 in his first game, but he tells me he broke 100 in his second and third games. It's been years since I've bowled; I'll probably go one of these afternoons and see what, if anything, is left of my old skills (I was a 140 average bowler, if memory serves).
The kids had us over for dinner tonight after we closed the store. The menu included salad, a baked potato, and barbequed ribs. I had entirely too many ribs, though otherwise, everyone had a great time, methinks.
I am not even going to attempt to look at the work that arrived today. I'll save that - along with the final review of the spreadsheet translation - for tomorrow.
Time to give Galina a footrub, and then to bed.
Cheers...
