More whoosh!
Sep. 30th, 2003 05:20 pmThe Durango insurance agent ran out of options, putting the ball back onto my side of the court, so I called the local guy who came by the store yesterday. We had a good conversation, and I just finished faxing him an application that takes account not only of the store's finances, but of my translation income as well.
Everything has been crazy today. Shannon had a root canal, Galina babysat Huntur (who only goes to school three days out of the week), and I showed up at the store this afternoon to help Drew, only to end up chasing the FedEx truck all over the neighborhood (long story). Then I returned home to finish the new bond application, which got faxed just a few minutes ago.
My best Houston client called this afternoon, and I now have a telecon for tomorrow morning. There has also been a steady stream of emails from the client outlining how the work load is changing in the Mission Control Center (it's increasing, dontcha know!).
About the only really good news for the day was that I caught and diverted this client's check away from the U.S. Postal Service and toward FedEx. With any luck, that check will be here tomorrow, which is cutting it close, but I've been closer. With just a jot more luck, we'll get the bond tomorrow, too. If not, I'll have to go to plan D (of course, first I'll have to come up with plan D, but that's another matter...)
Nothing is certain in this world. On the other hand, taking Galina out for dinner tonight is a lead pipe cinch.
Cheers...
